What better way to explore Singapore than to taste the best food it has to offer and walk though local street to soak in the sights and sounds? This was definitely a memorable birthday celebration for me, walking down the streets of Geylang on a busy Sunday night and eating all the awesome food the place has to offer.
It was a very well planned tour customised to meet all our needs. Best part was that we knew we were in good hands with Maureen leading us around, we did not have to worry and just let ourselves enjoy the experience wholeheartedly.
We booked Maureen for a food tour whilst on Honeymoon. I contacted her beforehand to tell her our dietary requirements and she took them into account when planning where to take us. We met outside a subway station, where we started with delicious kaya toast and coffee, before heading into the Hawker Markets for lots of Singaporean staple dishes. Maureen told us a lot about the area and the food, meaning it was not just a food tour, but a local history tour too! She listened to our likes and dislikes whilst on the tour and changed plans on the fly to make it really tailored to us. We were out for about 3-4 hours and tried 14 different things in that time! Maureen took lots of photos for her blog, which she then later sent us in an email. We left Maureen with full tummies and fond memories. It was the best part of our trip and I would recommend her tours to every foodie visiting Singapore!
Miss Tam Chiak writes about unbiased and informative reviews on local food in Singapore. Her blog provides many information and I was able to learn more about local food despite being a local myself. We visited some of the food places she recommends and they never fail to surprise us. I highly recommend tourists to go along with her food tour, chiak local, to learn more about our food and culture! 🙂
